How to Connect Follow Up Boss to Property Notepad
Once connected, you can send a client's search criteria, overall notes, showing insights, and every property in their notebook straight into a note on their Follow Up Boss contact, right from that notebook's Client Brief screen. This is a one-time setup, done from a computer.
1. Find your API key in Follow Up Boss
- 1Sign in to Follow Up Boss in a browser.
- 2Open Admin from the left sidebar.
- 3Click API.
- 4Copy your key. It's tied to your own Follow Up Boss user, so it only ever sees the contacts you already have access to.
2. Paste it into Property Notepad
- 1In Property Notepad on the web, go to Account, then Agent Tools, then Integrations.
- 2Paste your key under Follow Up Boss and connect it.
- 3Property Notepad checks the key with Follow Up Boss right away and shows your account name once it's connected.
3. Send a client brief
Open any notebook and go to its Client Brief screen, then Send to your CRM. Enter the client's email exactly as it appears on their Follow Up Boss contact, and send. Property Notepad looks that contact up, tags them Property Notepad, and adds one note per property with anything on it. You can also include an overview note, on or off with one checkbox, with the search criteria, overall notes, and insights. Every note is titled “Showing Notes (Property Notepad)” so they're easy to spot. It never creates a new lead, so nothing you send here can create a duplicate or misfire an automation.
If Follow Up Boss doesn't have a contact with that email yet, Property Notepad tells you instead of guessing. Add the client in Follow Up Boss first, then send again.
Not on Follow Up Boss?
Connect a webhook URL instead, from the same Integrations page, under Zapier / other CRM. Zapier, kvCORE, and Lofty can all receive a webhook this way. RealScout doesn't currently have a public way for other apps to write data into it; a Zapier webhook is the way to reach it if you use RealScout.

Frequently asked questions
Where do I find my Follow Up Boss API key?
Sign in to Follow Up Boss, open Admin from the left sidebar, then API. Your key is listed there — copy it and paste it into Property Notepad's Integrations page. Every Follow Up Boss user has their own key, so use yours, not a teammate's.
Does this create new leads in Follow Up Boss?
No. Sending a client brief looks up an existing contact by email and adds a note to them. If nobody in Follow Up Boss has that email yet, Property Notepad tells you instead of creating one — add the client in Follow Up Boss first, then send again.
Can I disconnect later?
Yes, any time, from the same Integrations page. Disconnecting only removes Property Notepad's stored key; it doesn't touch anything already sent to Follow Up Boss.
What if I don't use Follow Up Boss?
Connect a webhook URL instead (Integrations page, "Zapier / other CRM"). Zapier can then route a client brief into kvCORE, Lofty, or most other CRMs. RealScout doesn't currently offer a public way for other apps to write data into it, so a Zapier webhook is the way to reach it.
